Abstract:

Oxytocin is excreted from the posterior pituitary gland and has many physiological properties like uterine contraction and consequently facilitating labour. This peptide amide is prepared by chemical synthetic means and has pharmaceutical applications in human and domestic animals. There are two methods of preparation of peptides, solution and solid phase; the latter being used in this study. The resin selected was Rink Amide MBHA and the alpha – amino acid, Fmoc-Gly-OH, was bonded to the resin followed by deprotection of Fmoc group by 20% piperidine. The next amino acid was added and this was continued till the chain was completed. The synthesized peptide was detached from the resin under acidic condition and then precipitated. The disulphide bridge between Cysteine 1 and 6 was achieved using iodine. The purified product was analyzed with respect to its purity, amino acids and biological activity. The results obtained were compared with the standard sample. The purity of the product was 95% and amino acid analysis showed the presence of all amino acids in the hormone. Biological activity was 467.05 unit per milligram.

Abstract:

Introduction: Solid and cystic papillary epithelial neoplasm of pancreas is a rare neoplasm with low malignant potential which often occurs in young women. The tumor is usually large and encapsulated. Microscopic examination reveals small round cells with papillary-configuration in a delicate vascular stroma. Case Report: The cases presented in this report were 2 women at the age of 15 & 26 who were both injured by striking. Radiologic findings revealed retroperitoneal mass. Both patients have not had any problem after surgery yet. Conclusion: In this neoplasm, surgery is treatment of choice and definite diagnosis is made by histology and immunohistochemistry. Patients have excellent long-time prognosis.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Solid Pseudo-Papillary Tumor (SPPT) is a benign and rare neoplasm which transforms to malignant from in fewer than 1 to 2 percent of cases. In more than 90% of the cases, it appears in young women ages 20 to 40 years old. Although SPPT is a benign tumor, it has special potential for mild malignancy. Case Report: The patient was an 18-year old woman with abdominal mass, headache, fever, chill, decreased appetite, pallor and dysuria who referred to Shahid Sadooghi hospital of Yazd, Iran in July 2007. In examination, a firm inflated, mobile, and painless mass with distinct borders was palpated in the left upper abdominal quadrant. This mass was 16 cm in diameter. In CT scan a large hypodense mass with thick wall and crossing the center line on the right side of spine was prominent. Microscopic evaluations after the surgery showed tumoral cells of small polyhedral core elliptical, pseudopapillary processes trabeculs with diffused fibrosis, atrophy acinar and mild infiltration of chronic inflammatory cells in the tumors margins. Conclusion: The final diagnosis in this patient was SPPT, a primary neoplasm of the pancreas. Its etiology is unknown and has low potential to turn into malignant form. It should be considered, especially in young women. Complete removal of the mass is the preferred treatment of the patients. Patients with local recurrence or metastasis can have long term survival after complete removal of the mass.

Abstract:

The performance of the solid acid fuel cell by CsH2PO4 electrolyte was analyzed using the present model of the electrochemical reaction and transport phenomena, which are fully coupled with the governing equations. Development of such a model requires creating the three-dimensional geometry and its mesh grid, discretization of momentum, mass and electric charge balance equation and solving the equations based on the information of electrical and electrochemical models in different areas of the cell consisting of porous electrodes, gas channels, and the solid parts like the current collector. The model equations were solved employing a finite elements technique solver of cell potential. Different parameters including current density (i), cell potential (V), cell power and concentration distribution of hydrogen, oxygen and water vapor have been investigated in this study. Also, the effect of different voltages on the concentration distribution of all the mentioned species through the cell length are taken into account. The results showed that there is a noticeable difference between H2, O2 and H2O concentration through the cell length subjected to various voltages. This difference was more apparent at lower voltages due to higher current density and higher consumption of species. The polarization curve is suitably consistent with the model and experimental data which verify the present simulation results.

Abstract:

Solid acid catalysts are essential for various catalytic processes due to their high activity, stability, and reusability. In this study, four chlorosulfonic acid-functionalized solid acid catalysts—Silica Gel, Granular Activated Carbon, High Impact Polystyrene, and Alumina—were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis. These techniques revealed important information about the elemental composition, structural characteristics, and surface morphology of the catalysts. We evaluated the catalytic performance of these materials Solid acid, Heterogeneous catalysis, Esterification, High Impact Polystyrene.in the esterification of AcOH with MeOH, a model reaction for acid-catalyzed processes. Significant variations in catalytic activity were observed, with conversion values ranging from 20% to 66.7%, corresponding to differences in textural properties and the distribution of acid sites. Among the catalysts studied, HIPS-SA exhibited the highest catalytic efficiency, achieving a conversion and yield of approximately 66.7% with nearly 100% selectivity. This demonstrates the importance of support type and surface functionalization in enhancing catalytic performance. The findings of this study offer valuable insights into the structure-activity relationships of solid acid catalysts, contributing to the development of more efficient heterogeneous catalysts for esterification reactions and other acid-catalyzed processes.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The congenital anomaly of nose is the one of causes of cosmetic of face and repair of this defect is very difficult. In this article, it was reported a case of congenital hypo plastic nasal alar with failure in operation two times. CASE: A 19 year old female referred with hypo plastic nasal alar who had been already operated two times with a failure in repairing this defect. A composite graft from ear with suitable size was inserted in the defect area of nose and it was improved. CONCLUSION: For repairing this anatomical defect and decreasing failure, this new surgical method is suggested.
